Creating Purple Bunny: From Sketch to Storybook

Featuring Illustrator Golnar Servatian

When I first imagined The Adventures of Purple Bunny, I saw more than just words—I saw color, whimsy, and warmth. I knew that to truly bring Purple Bunny to life, I’d need someone who could capture her playful spirit and heartfelt charm in every line and brushstroke. That someone turned out to be the incredibly talented Golnar Servatian.

Golnar is an award-winning illustrator whose work is filled with soul, movement, and emotion. Her ability to infuse characters with depth and delight is nothing short of magical. When I shared the vision of Purple Bunny—a slightly fuzzy, floppy, endlessly curious stuffed toy with a big heart—Golnar understood her instantly.

From the first sketches, I could see Purple Bunny’s personality shine through. Golnar’s illustrations gave her a life of her own—soft textures, expressive eyes, and just the right amount of whimsical detail. Every page felt alive.

Golnar brought not only talent but heart to this project. She took the time to understand Misha Lily (our young heroine), the emotional beats of the story, and the magic tucked into everyday moments. Her artwork doesn’t just complement the words—it elevates them.

Creating this book was a collaboration in the truest sense. Golnar’s hand-drawn scenes are what turn The Adventures of Purple Bunny from a story into an experience.

If your child has ever fallen in love with a character because of how they look, you have illustrators like Golnar to thank. I’m so grateful she was part of this journey—and I hope Purple Bunny hops off the page and into your heart, just like she did for us.

With gratitude,
